Do you want a role where your presence truly matters? As a Casual After Hours Support Worker at The Salvation Army’s Sunrise Centre in Berrimah, you’ll be the steady hand and compassionate heart that ensures the safety and wellbeing of clients and staff outside business hours.
Working alongside another team member, you’ll provide support, lifestyle activities, emotional and wellbeing response, and practical assistance to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. This includes contributing to the overall cleanliness of the facilities and assisting with kitchen duties to ensure the centre runs smoothly. Every shift is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
This is a casual position based at the Sunrise Centre, Berrimah, NT, with salary and conditions in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3.
Be a trusted presence for clients, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication for handover
Build strong, respectful relationships that encourage self-determination and positive outcomes
Respond calmly and promptly to emergencies, safeguarding residents and staff
Assist clients with medication and alcohol testing in line with policy and care plans
Support clients in accessing services and community networks, advocating where needed
Maintain accurate records and identify opportunities to improve service delivery
Contribute to the upkeep of facilities and assist with, to maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the facility including kitchen to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
Actively and positively engage with participants through activities that promote wellbeing, inclusivity, and connection.
Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, Alcohol & Other Drugs, Mental Health or related field (desirable)
Self-Administer Medication Certificate
Previous experience in a similar support role
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond with empathy in crisis situations
Knowledge of data entry systems
National Police Record Check and Working With Children Clearance
Flexibility to work weekends, after hours, and sleepover shifts as required
