Company:
Boeing Deutschland GmbH - BDGWe are seeking motivated graduates in Aerospace, Mechanical, Design or closely related Engineering disciplines to support structural design, analysis, testing, and verification activities for wing structures, joints, and composite materials.
This evergreen requisition covers multiple intern roles supporting mechanical design, experimental testing, and analytical/simulation tasks across multidisciplinary teams.
Position Responsibilities (combined):
Mechanical design and detailing of aerospace structural components and assemblies, with emphasis on wing structures, bolted joints, and joint interfaces
Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and manufacturing documentation; prepare supplier-ready documentation and respond to supplier queries
Develop and maintain assembly configurations, part metadata, and revision control in PDM/PLM systems
Implement relational design practices to ensure traceability between requirements, CAD models, analyses, and deliverables
Support design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly activities and participate in design reviews, change requests, and engineering release processes
Perform analytical calculations and numerical simulations for bolted joints and composite structures; automate verification and validation workflows for advanced material models
Support test design and execution for composite material experiments and NDT (non-destructive testing); operate acoustic-based NDT systems and laboratory test equipment
Process, evaluate, and visualize test and simulation data; generate plots, refine visualizations, and document procedures and results
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and formal documentation; proofread and edit technical reports for clarity and accuracy
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, systems, manufacturing, stress/analysis, suppliers) to integrate design and simulation results
Support root-cause investigations and corrective action activities
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Solid understanding of structural mechanics, materials, and structural design principles applicable to aerospace
Demonstrated ability or coursework supporting CAD modeling and engineering drawings, laboratory/testing experience, or simulation experience
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently and within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams
Ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated initiative in automation, scripting, or process improvement
3D CAD and detail design: Siemens NX and/or CATIA; AutoCAD for 2D drawings
Finite element and pre/post-processing: NASTRAN, ABAQUS, HyperMesh / OptiStruct (or equivalent)
Programming, automation and data analysis: Python and/or MATLAB for scripting, data processing, and CAD automation
Familiarity with relational design concepts linking requirements, CAD, and analyses for traceability
Core knowledge: mechanics of materials, composite mechanics, experimental mechanics, vibration/acoustics fundamentals, and bolted joint behavior
Manufacturing knowledge: GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacture/assembly principles
Test and lab experience: instrumentation, NDT methods, and experimental setup/photography
