Job Summary: You will serve as an Aerospace Engineer in the Fleet Support Team (FST) Engineering Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Major Duties:

  • You will coordinate the technical research of the most serious and complex air vehicle engineering issues, which usually requires many technical fields and engineering/scientific disciplines.
  • You will apply a thorough knowledge of a variety of standard guides, precedents, methods, techniques, and practices as well as innovative processes in order to solve air vehicle engineering problems.
  • You will maintain communication with superiors, peers, and subordinates throughout the NAVAIR team, along with other government agencies and private industry contacts regarding various engineering issues.
  • You will provide technical professional expertise and oversight to ensure the latest advancements in engineering technology are considered and implemented in work planning.
  • You will develop team planning objectives for current and long-range tasks (5-10 years), as well as providing overall technical planning for the development, engineering evaluation, and support of the team.
  • You will monitor and review progress/products of team members to ensure the completion of decisions and work on assigned projects.
  • You will anticipate problems and develop innovative solutions to resolve more difficult and challenging situations, along with providing leadership, direction, and guidance necessary to produce quality products in a timely manner.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Planning, coordinating, and solving specific air vehicle engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and evaluation of causes and effects; (2) Defining air vehicle engineering problems that require modification or adaptation of methods or techniques, which require special consideration of in-service engineering planning, scheduling, and coordination; (3) Identifying and prescribing corrective action for air vehicle deficiencies/ incidents of significant proportions reported through appropriate reporting systems to improve reliability, maintainability, survivability, and interchangeability; (4) Providing technical professional expertise and oversight to ensure the latest advancements in engineering technology are implemented in work planning, as well as anticipating technological changes on assigned weapon system programs; and (5) Directing, leading, and managing an assigned team to ensure products and services are delivered on schedule within budgeted costs and in accordance with technical requirements.
