Advisor, Retail Banking (Mortgage Sales)

Oriental Bank it is looking for an Advisor, Retail Banking (Mortgage Sales) who will be responsible for maximizing existing and potential business development opportunities of residential loan products (F.H.A. Loans, Conventional Loans (Conforming, Non-Conforming/Jumbos), Second Mortgages, Mortgage-backed personal loans, Farmers’ Home Loans and any other product that may be added.). Responsible for production, quality and profitability of mortgage loans. Make a wide variety of mortgage real estate loans and participates in related business development activities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Actively solicits business from prospective clients, visits Real Estate Brokers, developers, builders and individual prospects to offer the following products: the F.H.A. Loans, Conventional Loans (Conforming, Non-Conforming/Jumbos), Second Mortgages, Mortgage-backed personal loans, Farmers’ Home Loans and any other product that may be added.
  • Actively solicits mortgage loans. Informs to prospective loan clients of the financial institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Interviews prospective clients and completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that residential loan files contain documents with proper signatures, dates and other relevant data and disclosure documents appropriate to the loan and product program to comply with all state and federal regulations.
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institutions policies and on type of loans offered by the institution.
  • Request for loan documentation: appraisal, title search, plot plan, taxes and flood zone certificate.
  • Maintains clients informed of status of transactions.
  • Contributes to the establishment of new sales strategies to capture market opportunities.
  • Builds sales pipeline and move prospective clients throughout the sales cycle.
  • Optimize chances for cross-selling by building partnerships across the bank to implement revenue generating opportunities while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Designs and implements sales strategy for assigned accounts.
  • Performs and collects all necessary documentation needed for mortgage loan approval.
  • Obtains origination applications from prospective clients, analyses and pre-qualifies residential loan application and submits them for processing and underwriting.
  • Participates in all related business activities/developments in the industry.
  • Carries out client and prospect presentations and proposals aligned to established guidelines and regulations. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
  • Three (3) year(s) of related experience in mortgage sales or similar position with excellent track record highly desirable.
  • Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Prior experience in financial industry occupying similar positions, required.
  • The candidate must be currently registered with NMLS or have prior NMLS registration and be eligible for registration; an active license is not required.
  • Maintains and promotes a high standard of confidentiality and strong ethical values.
  • Proficiency on Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Encompass, Salesforce.
  • Fully bilingual – English and Spanish (verbal and written) required.
  • Self-starter, results oriented, and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Prioritize and plans work activities of all important projects simultaneously observing the defined quality standards.
  • Innovation and flexibility for meeting the demands of an ever-changing market.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and adaptability to interact with individuals at all levels required. 
  • Candidates must be highly analytical, proactive problem solving, organized, detail oriented and able to multitask observing the defined quality standards.
  • Able to work both independently and in a teamwork environment. 

      WORK AUTHORIZATION & ELEGIBILITY:

      • Legally authorized to work in the US is required. This position is of indefinite duration and requires candidates to have permanent or ongoing work authorization.
