  • Salary Level HEW7 ($103,603 -$112,144) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented HSE professional with experience supporting health, safety and environmental risk management in complex environments. You bring a strong understanding of contractor, construction and maintenance-related risks, and are confident working in live operational settings where safety and compliance are critical.

You have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and best practice, and can apply this to support effective risk mitigation and governance processes. Your ability to identify hazards, assess risk and contribute to practical, fit-for-purpose solutions ensures safe outcomes across a range of projects and activities.

A collaborative team player, you build strong relationships with stakeholders across diverse functions, including contractors, project teams and operational staff. You communicate clearly and effectively, and are comfortable providing guidance and support to ensure safe work practices are understood and followed.

You are organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities, with a continuous improvement mindset and a genuine commitment to creating a safe and compliant working environment.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice systems for effectively managing health and safety of employees, building users and Contractors.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes, drive change and create a strong health and safety culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, analyse, conceptualise and provide creative solutions to complex projects and issues. The capability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders and key professionals.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, co-operatively and efficiently as a member of a clientfocused team. Proven ability to develop clear and concise written communications including business, investigative and audit reports and proposals.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills, including proven ability to negotiate a solution to a problem with multiple parties.

About the Portfolio

Property Services is located in the Operations Portfolio which is the services nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people development infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the University. Property Services has approximately 120 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical facilities services. Property Services is responsibility for a Property Portfolio of $2.9B with an operating budget in excess of $80M and prospective capital projects of over $100M per annum for the next few years in Melbourne and Vietnam. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 110 buildings in Melbourne spread across all RMIT's campuses and sites.
