Expectations:

Under the direction of a board certified/eligible physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Department of Cardiac Surgery is responsible for implementing and maintaining APP requirements both programmatic and competency specific to Cardiac Surgery Programs. The APP is clinically responsible and accountable for the application of the process, providing clinical guidance to the team, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative, acute care through discharge.
The APP may be required to assist in the OR or perform other departmental specific procedures. They may only provide those medical services, which they are competent, trained, and have privileges to provide.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree required. Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Completion of an accredited program for Nurse Practitioner required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) in the practice of cardiac surgery, including endoscopic saphenectomy, general cardiac surgical operating room experience as well as pre and postoperative care experience, preferably in radial harvesting. Minimum of five (5) years specialty experience in areas of Cardiovascular, Transplant, Orthopedic, and/or related preferred. Experience in endoscopic vein harvesting and Acute care hospital experience required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Either
Current Physician Assistant License issued by State of California with
Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Or
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) with
Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner License issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and Current certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) issued by State of California Current Drug Enforcement Administration
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred:
Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Certificate

Pay Range: The estimated base rate for this position is $162,240.00 - $243,360.00.

Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
