Role Overview

We are seeking an APP to join a dynamic Urology team at Advocate Sherman Hospital. This position is set in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a wide variety of urology cases. It combines both clinic and hospital responsibilities, including managing consults, assisting in surgical procedures, and collaborating with physicians to deliver comprehensive urologic care.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts

  • After-hours call coverage rotating among APPs and physicians. Call rotation typically includes two days on, two days off, three days on, plus one weekend per month.

Pay Range

$50.05 - $75.10

Major Responsibilities

This position encompasses clinical care, professional practice, and leadership responsibilities, ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-centered outcomes.

Licensure

  • Active Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Illinois.

Education and Experience

  • PA: Master’s degree or equivalent in Physician Assistant studies (effective January 1, 2018).
  • APRN: Master’s in Nursing with current national certification in the appropriate specialty.
  • Prior urology experience is strongly preferred but not required. Surgical or consult experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and patient engagement.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records.
  • Current NCCPA certification (for PA) or national board certification (for APRN).
  • Illinois Controlled Substance License within six months of hire.
  • DEA registration eligibility and possession within six months of hire (may vary by site).
  • Current BLS certification; PALS/ACLS certification as required by practice site.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including on-call coverage, to meet patient and organizational needs.
  • Capacity to work under pressure in challenging situations and respond quickly to patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Routine exposure to infectious specimens and patients, as well as potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Competence in caring for patients across age groups, understanding developmental and aging patterns.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; patient handling equipment and team assistance required for heavier lifts.
