Additional Job Description:

WVUHS Medical Group seeks a Primary Care APP for an outpatient clinic and Nursing Home Care. The successful candidate will practice at Wheeling East Cove Family Medicine in Wheeling, WV. 

         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing OR Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.

2. West Virginia certification and/or license as required

3. Basic Life Support Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be construed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray and POC lab tests.

2. Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.

3. Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.

4. Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.

5. Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.

6. Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.

7. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.

8. Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available. 

9. Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with the medical assistant(s) as needed during the care and treatment of patients.

10. Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.

11. Communicates with staff, medical staff and administration in support of operations.
