The APP - NP or PA, will play a key role in caring for children and adolescents admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit and supporting patients on medical units with behavioral health needs. This position emphasizes team-based care, working closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, counselors, and support staff to ensure holistic treatment.

Major Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage treatment plans for pediatric patients with psychiatric conditions.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies; prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and counseling for patients and families.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; escalate care when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure compliant coding and billing.
- Facilitate clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and community agencies.
- Perform hospital-based procedures within granted privileges and competency.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in family therapy sessions and care conferences.
- Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support onboarding and education of new team members and students.
- Maintain clinical proficiency and professional development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for pediatric populations.
Licensure/Certification:
- Active RN and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or PA license in state of practice
- National board certification in clinical area and population served
- DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (prior to hire)
- BLS and PALS certification (within 6 months of hire)
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
Experience: New graduates welcome
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong clinical decision-making and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Proficiency with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the day
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; 20 lbs overhead; carry up to 40 lbs
- Functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing
