What You Will Do:
Join a high-performing consulting team tackling one of the Department of War’s (DoW) most critical priorities: scaling an Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) ecosystem that integrates allies, industry, and emerging technologies to deliver parts and weapon systems at the point of need, reinforcing readiness and deterrence.
The Advanced Manufacturing Technical Specialist position is for an Associate Director that will join other advisory consultants and subject matter experts for Guidehouse AdvM capabilities, which includes research, development, and pilot demonstration for technologies that cover smart manufacturing, additive manufacturing, composites, highly conductive materials, cyber security for manufacturing, and materials for harsh service conditions. This Advanced Manufacturing Technical Specialist position will support the Guidehouse Technology Consulting and Defense Segment in the area of AdvM.
Responsibilities Include:
Drive alignment and execution of AdvM)programs, ensuring measurable outcomes and mission success.
Tackle complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions that shape DoW-wide manufacturing strategies.
Advise senior leadership on policy and legislative changes informed by real-world program performance.
Lead coordination across DoW organizations to synchronize AdvM deliverables and accelerate adoption.
Represent Guidehouse in joint working groups, providing technical expertise and influencing enterprise-level decisions.
Develop and integrate qualification/certification roadmaps for AdvM processes, consolidating efforts across Military Services.
Craft high-impact briefs and reports for senior officers and executives, driving clarity and action.
Mentor and guide junior team members while managing multiple projects with precision and efficiency.
Communicate AdvM initiatives to DoW and industry stakeholders, fostering collaboration and transparency.
Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations to support mission-critical engagements.
What You Will Need:
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.
Bachelor's Degree
TEN (10) or more years of experience in managing AdvM programs, in AdvM techniques (e.g., additive, subtractive, etc.) or working knowledge of DoW AdvM practices and environments
Ability to apply engineering principles to resolve system-level issues and implement preventive mechanisms (procedures, documentation, training)
Proven ability to collaborate across stakeholders, combining technical analysis and business acumen to anticipate needs and design new systems/processes
Experience managing business strategy / mission alignment and technology solutions in complex environments
Strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, linking business strategy to performance
A team-oriented mindset with flexibility and commitment to client success
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
What Would Be Nice To Have:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance
Advanced degree in business, engineering, or related field
Expertise with AdvM adjacent areas such as cybersecurity, intellectual property, and business process reengineering
Experience in materials characterization, testing methods, failure analysis, and root-cause determination across the product lifecycle
Knowledge of DoW logistics and maintenance systems
Strong problem-solving, project management, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask in fast-paced settings, adapt to changing requirements, and deliver results under tight deadlines
Advanced proficiency with MS Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
