PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.    Provide process and plant engineering advanced controls support to maintain efficient and reliable product supplies across all businesses in Asia.
2.    Identify, develop and design improved operating and control strategies to achieve productivity targets, particularly for ASU processes. Develop tracking programs and metrics for plant optimization and efficiency, and controller on-stream.  Monitor the targets against expected performance.  Areas of emphasis include: manufacturing cost reduction, waste handling and reduction, raw materials, utilities consumption/cost/supply, production process reliability and capacity expansions.
3.    Providing advanced controls consultation and technical support to Plant Process Engineering teams and the Production organization, especially for ASU operations, to help troubleshoot and resolve process operating problems, plant optimization controls and strategies, plant reliability and product supply issues. 
4.    Day to day support on plant optimization through advanced controls and data management services to site staff and office-based engineers.
5.    Evaluation and development of new control strategies and data management tools with other engineering disciplines.
6.    Provide support for capital projects (capacity, efficiency upgrades, training, startup & commissioning) as requested by Project Delivery Org, Plant Project and Plant Maintenance organizations. 
7.    Provide day to day support to SPIDER advanced control related stuff.
8.    Develop advanced control project scope, estimate project cost and benefit, develop capital expenditure authorization document and propose appropriate execution strategy for best fit with resources and benefits case.  Execute projects with Ops teams or as part of a larger PDO capital project team.  Execute project work to the defined budget and agreed schedule.
9.    Assist sites teams in monitoring energy efficiency relative to budget and drive year-to-year improvements.
10.    Provide Advanced Controls (MPC,IP21) design, implementation and plant tuning support.
11.    Provide technical and safety reviews for MOC’s and drive process safety compliance as part of engineering reviews. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS

The position requires an individual with:

1.    Demonstrated engineering and technical skills working hands on in an operating plant, preferably in Air Separation Units (ASU).
2.    Demonstrated ability to work in groups, interacting with plant operators, process engineers, maintenance, production engineers, plant supervision and line management.
3.    Solid capabilities including organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) in English are essential to the position.  
4.    A minimum of a BS engineering degree (Chemical engineering, Process Control preferred) and minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Engineering and/or Operations is required.
5.    Travel 30-50% of the time.
6.    Solid skill on DCS control system with Strong knowledge on PID tuning, Control loop troubleshooting. Familiar with the APC implementation tools and Aspen DMC3 a plus.
7.    Previous experience in field operations in Air Separation Units (ASU) or similar cryogenic processes  including, but not limited to, reaction, distillation, adsorption, heat exchange, utilities and process control and automation equipment, and in plant optimization activities a plus.
