Job Title: Advanced Analytics Senior Manager

Business and Team:
Chief Operations Office is the heartbeat of the bank, where we reimagine banking operations and customer excellence. The Advanced Analytics Senior Manager plays a key role in delivering data-driven insights and solutions within the Group CCO. This role involves hands-on development of machine learning models, automation, data analysis, and visualization to support operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Impact and Contribution: In Financial Services, we support the Group’s strategy of building tomorrow’s bank today for our customers, through a focus on three key priorities of trust, resilience and capital generation. Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to specialist advice, support and services in Finance, Treasury, Risk Management, IB&M and other LOB’s. Lead bank wide initiative for automated control assurance across BUs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy machine learning models to address business problems.
Conduct exploratory data analysis and generate actionable insights.
Utilize generative AI tools for enhancing analytical capabilities.
Automate using various tool, such as Alteryx and Microsoft Power platforms
Automate assurance by using SQL tools and scripts
Create dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau and Power BI.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
Ensure the robustness, accuracy, business relevance of analytical solutions.
Maintain high standards in data quality, governance, and documentation.
Support the Group CCO strategy initiatives and team development.
Set clear goals and expectations, providing guidance and support to team members.
Develop and implement the advanced analytics strategy in alignment with business objectives.
Oversee the planning, execution, delivery of complex analytical projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
Partner with senior leadership and other stakeholders to identify key business challenges and opportunities that can be addressed through analytics.
Drive innovation in analytical methodologies and tools, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and deliver greater value.
Essential Skills:
12+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related fields.
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
Sound capability in leadership principles, risk management for better outcomes, and AI and data literacy
Proficiency in using automation tools such as Alteryx and Power Platforms
Understand predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and other advanced analytics techniques. Ensure the robustness, accuracy, and relevance of analytical solutions.
An analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems in creative ways.
Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
Behavioural skills should include advanced proficiency in constructive challenge and decision making with critical thinking, while active learning remains at a sound level.
Maintain data governance standards and practices. Ensure the integrity, quality, and security of data used in analysis.
Exposure to Risk, Control and Process automation is desired
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively within the analytics community and stakeholders.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor or master's in data science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics.
