Job Summary: This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General (DoD OIG), Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). The incumbent will serve as the sole investigator for assigned cases, including sensitive and complex matters. Plans all aspects of investigation; uses a broad range of investigative techniques, and produces written, comprehensive written reports for leadership.

Major Duties:

  • Conducts administrative investigations of internal OIG staff and produces investigative reports in compliance with established timelines, regulations and policies.
  • Develops written investigative products to include exploratory methodologies, analyses and reports, trend reports, policies and procedures.
  • Plans, organizes, administers, conducts and leads investigations of internal programs, seizure operations, policies and operations.

Qualifications: Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-14 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: Planning and executing all aspects of an investigation. Applicants must have experience researching Federal laws and regulations and demonstrated experience developing evidence via formal interviews and collection of pertinent documents, analyzing evidence, and writing reports. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
