Information Technology Full Time

Pay Range: $22.90 - $28.62/hr. | $47,632.00 to $59,539.00 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: FLSA Nonexempt position. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff are required to be on-site at least 2 days per week.

An Administrative Assistant position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Finance division in its Purchasing Unit. The Administrative Assistant position is needed to perform a wide variety of administrative tasks for procurement of technology (hardware and software).  This position also manages the coordination of managed print devices for the City.  This position is a role that requires a person with excellent attention to detail and organization skills to provide a high level of customer service for our internal customers.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Four (4) years of clerical and administrative experience
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some college work preferred
  • Four (4) years of purchasing duties and knowledge of State and Municipal purchasing policies
  • Principles and practices of finance and accounting
  • Purchasing practices and procedures, including the techniques of specification writing
  • Experience working in a highly paced environment with competing deadlines
  • Methods and techniques of conducting research
  • Basic principles of contractual agreement law
  • Higher levels of education and experience and certifications as related to the vacancy
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft Financials and Procurement

The Administrative Assistant’s job responsibilities include:

  • Requesting quotes for technology related purchases (hardware/software)
  • Enter requisitions for purchases
  • Reconcile items/services received against the purchase order for receipt activities
  • Evaluate the quality and price of products to determine the suitability of good and alternative offered
  • Prepares specifications for bids
  • Ability to identify cooperative agreements and research alternative purchasing options
  • Receive, review, and create requisitions and issue purchase orders
  • Track and review purchases to confirm accurate and timely vendor payments
  • Perform a wide variety of complex fiscal activities to include account analysis and budget monitoring
  • Serves as backup for various staff positions in their absence
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.  

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
