Adjunct - Educational Administration - Online - College of Education

Qualifications: Please read carefully and ensure you meet qualifications before submitting your application.

• Preferred: Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Educational Administration AND valid state principal or supervisor or superintendent certification.
• Minimum: Masters in Educational Administration or Masters in Educational Leadership AND valid state principal or supervisor or superintendent certification AND exceptional expertise to include a minimum of two items from the following criteria:
  • 1. Is enrolled in a terminal/doctoral degree program with a minimum of 18 credits successfully completed.
  • 2. Has minimum of 4 years experience as a board member on two or more boards related to content areas.
  •  3. Has been recognized with two or more awards for their expertise in content area.
  • 4. Has over 3 publications in peer reviewed journals within the last 7 years.
  • 5. Holds a minimum of 4 years experience in leadership position within their respective professional association.
  • 6. Have a minimum of 10 years of work experience in the field for which they would be assigned a course.
  • 7. Hold certifications in their respective content area above and beyond degree credentials.
  • 8. Holds or has held a position as a director or higher (Exec Direct or Assist VP or VP or Superintendent or C-level) in the work setting for a minimum of 8 years in the area related to the course.
• All instructors must have a minimum of three years of experience as a classroom instructor AND a minimum of three years in a supervisory role to include dean of students or assistant principal or principal or district level administrator related position AND At least six graduate credits related to professional development or adult learning or performance-based assessment or data-based instructional design or data-driven decision-making or supervision or educational leadership or principalship or superintendency.

EAD-567: Coaching and Mentoring to Support Teacher Self-Efficacy and Retention

"This course prepares candidates to develop and promote best practices in emerging trends and initiatives in support of teacher self-efficacy and retention. Topics will explore coaching and mentoring in alignment to the teacher coaching cycle of observation, evaluation, and providing actionable feedback for teacher improvement. Emphasis is placed on creating a collaborative professional culture that promotes equity, cultural responsiveness, and the success and well-being of all stakeholders."

EAD-577: Promoting Effective and Respectful Learning Environments

"This course prepares candidates to promote effective and safe learning environments to support school improvement initiatives. Research-based best practices in establishing a consistent, organized, and respectful learning environment will be explored. Emphasis is placed on equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive practices. Character education is addressed to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of all school community stakeholders, and to sustain a positive learning environment."

EBF-530: Local Funding for Schools and Districts

"This course focuses on funding available to schools and districts from local entities. Funding sources, including community organizations, are explored. Ethical and legal management of local funding is emphasized."

EBF-550: Managing School Capital and Human Resources

"This course focuses on the equitable allocation and distribution of funds and resources available to schools and districts. Legal and ethical use and reporting of funds are emphasized."

EDL-590: Educational Leadership Capstone

"This capstone course provides educational leadership candidates the opportunity to implement an innovative solution to an educational issue. An emphasis is placed on conducting research, data analysis, and analyzing research themes to draw conclusions."

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

• Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
• Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
• Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes.
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
