The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Operations Specialist to support our rapidly expanding advanced manufacturing capability at Aberdeen Proving Ground. You will work directly alongside an Additive Manufacturing SME to execute production builds, maintain AM equipment, manage material inventories, and support engineering teams with part validation and workflow optimization.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Execute day-to-day operations for multiple additive manufacturing platforms (polymer, composite, or metal depending on equipment set).



Qualifications:

Required:

 

  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.



Desired:
 

  • Experience with slicing software (GrabCAD, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Insight, 3DXpert, Netfabb, etc.).
  • Experience with post-processing methods such as sanding, vapor smoothing, machining, or annealing.
  • Experience with CNC machining, welding, or other fabrication processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality assurance practices and documentation standards.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-machine AM labs or production environments.
  • Mid-level experience with additive manufacturing equipment in a production or R&D environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of AM processes such as FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS, or composite continuous fiber systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and apply dimensional inspection methods.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safe operations.
  • Perform machine set-up, build execution, post-processing, support removal, and part finishing.
  • Monitor print quality, equipment status, and material conditions to maintain operational continuity.
  • Coordinate with engineers to validate build parameters, document settings, and implement best practices.
  • Maintain AM equipment in safe, reliable operating condition; perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance actions.
  • Support workflow documentation, part traceability, and quality control steps.
  • Conduct dimensional verification using calipers, micrometers, and other metrology tools.
  • Assist in developing new build strategies, parameter sets, and process improvements alongside the SME.
  • Manage AM material inventories including filaments, resins, powders, and support materials.
  • Support integration activities for hybrid manufacturing involving CNC, welding, or assembly operations.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$75,200 - 158,100 USD
