Job Description:
We are offering a unique hybrid internship opportunity for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering student with strong interest in both advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence. This role combines Additive Manufacturing (AM) research through structured literature studies and hands-on engineering with AI model development for data extraction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Additive Manufacturing Literature Study (Remote)
- Conduct structured literature reviews on Additive Manufacturing technologies, focusing on metals and wire-based processes
- Summarize key findings on process parameters, material behavior, productivity, and cost
- Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for industrial applications
- Prepare clear technical summaries and presentations
2. Hands-on Engineering & Lab Work (Hanover/Remote)
- Support experimental activities related to welding and additive manufacturing
- Assist in setup, execution, and documentation of trials
- Work on prototyping and testing with engineering teams
- Contribute to data collection and validation
3. AI Model Development for Data Extraction (Hanover/Remote)
- Support development of AI/ML tools to extract structured data from technical documents
- Use Python to clean, preprocess, and analyze data
- Build simple pipelines or models for information extraction
- Connect literature insights with structured datasets
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor’s student in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Strong foundation in Materials Science, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Mathematics
Technical Skills
- CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
- Basic FEA and manufacturing knowledge
- Programming (Python preferred; Java/JavaScript a plus)
- MATLAB or similar tools
