Job Summary
The Senior Adaptive Planning Analyst is responsible for administering, optimizing, and supporting Workday Adaptive Planning to enable accurate and scalable financial planning. This hands-on role translates FP&A-defined requirements into system configurations, ensures integration reliability, improves existing models, and maintains high data quality across planning environments.
Candidates must demonstrate real experience with Adaptive model optimization, integration performance improvement, troubleshooting, and complex formula logic.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Adaptive Planning Administration
Configure, maintain, and optimize cube sheets, modeled sheets, levels, dimensions, versions, and linked structures.
Write, debug, and enhance complex Adaptive Planning formulas, including allocations, nested IFs, and dimensional logic.
Evaluate existing models for performance, accuracy, scalability, and maintainability—and execute targeted improvements.
Document and explain model dependencies, roll-ups, dimensional intersections, and logic flow.
Ensure all structures align with financial governance, GL mappings, and planning standards
Model & Integration Optimization
Analyze existing financial models to identify performance bottlenecks, redundant logic, unnecessary dimensionality, or inefficient structures—and implement optimizations.
Streamline model structures by consolidating sheets, improving drivers, reducing calculation load, or simplifying dimensional intersections.
Enhance integration processes by improving mapping accuracy, metadata alignment, scheduling stability, and load performance.
Collaborate with FP&A and technical teams to proactively redesign or refactor models and integrations to support future scalability.
Implement best practices for data validation, formula optimization, and model efficiency within Adaptive Planning.
Integration Operations
Monitor, validate, and troubleshoot daily integrations between Adaptive Planning and systems such as Workday Financials, ERP, HRIS, or data warehouses.
Maintain and refine dimension crosswalks, mapping logic, metadata alignment, and automated load rules.
Investigate and resolve failed records, performing root-cause analysis across upstream sources and Adaptive Planning.
Document integration structures, logic changes, and downstream impacts.
Reporting & OfficeConnect
Build and maintain Adaptive Planning reports, dashboards, and OfficeConnect templates using attributes, dynamic ranges, and dimensional filters.
Troubleshoot and repair reporting logic, broken references, dimensional mismatches, and formula inconsistencies.
Align reporting structures with GL hierarchies, cost centers, versions, and planning frameworks.
Testing, Documentation & Governance
Execute unit testing, regression testing, and UAT for new configurations, model enhancements, and integration changes.
Produce clear documentation of model logic, data flows, integration mappings, performance improvements, and configuration updates.
Maintain metadata governance across levels, dimensions, accounts, and attributes.
Support Finance during close, forecast, budget, and long-range planning cycles by ensuring system readiness and stability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the Adaptive SME to FP&A, Accounting, and internal technical teams.
Provide training and guidance to users on new models, functionality, and reporting tools.
Communicate system changes, enhancements, and optimizations clearly and proactively.
