About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

The Opportunity

Are you ready to take the next step in your actuarial career? We’re looking for a highly motivated Actuarial Analyst to join our Capital Modelling team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong analytical background to contribute to key actuarial processes and support the delivery of robust capital modelling solutions.

Our Capital Modelling team operates as a split location team across London and Leeds and we welcome applicants based in either location.

Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role.  QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.

Your New Role

In this role, you’ll report directly to an Actuarial Manager and work closely with colleagues across the actuarial function. You’ll play a key part in supporting the development and maintenance of capital models, helping to ensure the business has a clear understanding of its capital needs and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the analysis and development of capital models to determine the company’s capital requirements and support QBE’s strategic priorities.

  • Assist in producing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulators.

  • Ensure accurate data is used and appropriate actuarial models and processes are applied.

  • Perform checks and validations to minimise inaccuracies and ensure model integrity.

  • Comply with actuarial standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align modelling processes with business needs.

  • Support business planning and reinsurance analysis as required.

  • Maintain documentation of key processes and support business continuity planning.

About You

You’re someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to develop your actuarial expertise within a specialist team. Given the fast pace and cyclical demand, it’s important that you already have an in-depth understanding of the workings of an Actuarial department and be driven to succeed. You’ll benefit from professional development opportunities, exam support, and access to various actuarial tools and technologies.

Skills you’ll need:

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a numerical field.

  • Experience within insurance, ideally general insurance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools, also experience with Igloo or other capital modelling software is beneficial.

  • Ability to interpret numerical data and communicate findings clearly.

  • Organised and able to manage your own workload to meet deadlines.

  • A keen interest in capital modelling and progressing towards actuarial qualifications.
