ACTIVITIES THERAPIST

SUMMARY:

Evaluates patient’s leisure lifestyle and provides goals and objectives directed at a therapeutically designed recreation/leisure-oriented treatment which assists patients in attaining optimum level of functioning.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Minimum of 1 years' experience in working with the emotionally ill required

2. Psychiatric Inpatient experience preferred

3. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational, Recreational, Activities Therapy, or related field required

4. At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)

5. Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients

  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and provide clinical documentation

  • Assess patient’s leisure preferences, limitations, social and ADL (Activities of Daily Living) functional abilities

  • Utilize group and individual therapeutic, occupational, creative expressive or recreational techniques to obtain treatment goals

  • Develop standards for activities program based on recognized therapeutic interventions

  • Manage equipment and materials to support program
