Reporting to the Head of Commissioning & Acquisitions, the Acquisition Executive plays a pivotal role within Virgin Media Television’s programming division. This role oversees all VMTV acquired content from new and existing contracts including legacy pipeline deals such as ITVS and ALL3. The successful candidate will envisage a dynamic new approach to the organisations acquisitions strategy that reflects the rapidly changing environment and formats including vodcasts and short form. This executive will collaborate closely with key areas across the business including the scheduling, promo, press, online and social departments to ensure strategic picking, placing and promotion of content.
Sourcing, negotiating and contracting new content for Virgin Media Television across linear and PLAY.
Full oversight and responsibility for fulfilling pipeline agreements including hitting annual budget spend and utilising full contracted hours.
Develop a bold new acquisition strategy to align with Virgin Media Television’s long term business goals and the changing environment in which we operate. This approach should include existing formats and newer opportunities such as VODCASTS, short form and AFP opportunities across all platforms.
Deliver content within budget through deals that drive value through volume and rights while remaining highly competitive.
Work closely with the planning team and insights dept. to ensure that acquired content is delivering on key requirements, and continually reacting to ratings and emerging gaps within the schedules with innovative new approaches and picks.
Drafting and overseeing paperwork (CSFs, PSFs, Business Cases etc.) and licence agreements and working with legal and Programming Manager to ensure completion and final delivery of all assets in a timely manner.
Travel to local and international markets to source content and represent VMTV.
Work closely with materials to ensure seamless delivery of assets in line with contracts and business needs.
Identify and develop revenue potentials within the remit and work closely with the commercial dept. to ensure sponsorship, partnerships and other opportunities are continually a growing source of revenue from acquisitions.
Develop our VOD and FAST offering on VM Play to ensure that we are continually a destination for on demand viewers.
Ensure correct and comprehensive rights are secured in line with the business needs and expectations.
Develop new and managing existing relationships with stakeholders across the industry.
Budget management, working closely with the Programming Manager to ensure that acquisitions and linked amortisation budgets are met and savings made where requested.
Ensure that acquired content and adheres to regulatory requirements and are in line with the brands values and approach.
Present regular updates on strategy and content performance to Director of Programming and other senior leaders within Virgin Media.
