Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Accounts Assistant is part of the European Accounting Team that supports a number of Syndigo European entities. This Accounting Team is responsible for the accounts payable, bank allocation and reconciliation, cash reporting and forecasting, general ledger journal posting, and balance sheet reconciliation.  

HOW WE’LL BE WINNING TOGETHER DAY TO DAY

The following duties are across various legal entities within Europe. Tasks/responsibilities for each legal entity will be allocated to each member of the accounting team by the Accounting Manager. But processes will be consistent across the various legal entities: 

  • Processing supplier invoices in line with the approval process. 
  • Complete weekly/ bi-monthly supplier payment runs. 
  • Complete bank allocations and weekly bank reconciliations  
  • Post journals for payroll, balance sheet correction and month end accrual standard journals. 
  • Compete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports for Manager review. 
  • Provide support (documentation etc.) for annual audits, financial reports and tax audits.
  • Communication with suppliers, finance team globally and budget holders. 
  • Support accurate and timely closure of the month.
  • Support Manager Accounting and European CFO when needed. 
  • Identify improvements in efficiency for the Accounting Team, and with linen manager approval implement improvements. 
  • Be pro-active in identifying potential waste/excess costs and escalate to correct budget holder.  

WE SHOULD TALK IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU 

  • 1+ years of experience in a similar role. 
  • University degree preferably in Accounting, Finance or Economics. 
  • Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Experience in Billing and Collection in an international environment. 
  • Knowledge of MS Office skills, especially Excel to Intermediate or Advanced level. Knowledge of NetSuite or other ERP systems is an advantage. 
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting software is a plus. 
  • Methodical and logical approach to tasks to manage workloads and prioritize actions to have highest impact on accounting department objectives. 
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize your own time and workload to meet deadlines while working with remote colleagues and line managers.
