Qualified and experienced accounting technician who performs accounting and costing activities.

Job Description:
 

Essential Duties:

  • Review vendor invoices for completeness and accuracy.  
  • Correspond with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Process invoices through account payable system (maintain master files, data entry, printing and mailing checks).
  • Perform checks and balances to ensure internal controls are followed.
  • Maintain departmental files (vendor payments, time sheets, purchase orders, etc.).
  • Maintain check control register.
  • Prepare and input routine journal entries.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Create various correspondence/spreadsheets by PC software.
  • Prepare various documents (requisitions, purchase orders, etc.).
  • Input and balance labor hours.
  • Perform cost allocations.

Other Duties:

  • Act in back-up capacity for receptionist.
  • Assist other departments in clerical functions as required (typing, filing, spreadsheet preparation, photocopying, telephoning, etc.).
  • Create spreadsheets, graphs, and charts.
  • Type correspondence, compile documentation and other clerical duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and terminology.
  • Ability to perform calculations, analyze/interpret data, and solve problems with work/objectives generally defined.
  • Must be able to coordinate, prioritize, and successfully meet multiple deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to explain and understand accounting principles and practices.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Power Point).

Education and Training:

  • Associates degree in Business/Accounting preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business-intelligence tools strongly desired.
