Position Summary
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor to support Order‑to‑Cash (O2C) processes, including Customer Master Data, billing, and payment processing. The O2C organization plays a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient billing and cash application outcomes by contributing to the end‑to‑end process—from contract activation through collection—while enabling a seamless and trusted customer experience.
Beyond day‑to‑day operational oversight, this role functions as a collaborative thought partner, working closely with Commercial, Controllers, Treasury, and Enterprise Business Services peers to help clarify process ownership, enable informed decision‑making, and strengthen control discipline. The Supervisor will contribute to the development and sustainment of governance models that are auditable, scalable, and repeatable across the enterprise, supporting alignment within the broader O2C Global Process Owner (GPO) framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for personnel, processes, and procedures within the workgroup, ensuring accounting Order‑to‑Cash activities are executed accurately, timely, and effectively.
- Collaborates to establish, monitor, and achieve annual goals, KPIs, and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement across billing, cash, and master data processes.
- Leads, develops, and coaches employees, providing functional expertise in applicable business processes while reinforcing accountability, quality, and operational excellence.
- Oversees the customer billing process, including invoice creation, validation, and distribution; manages and resolves customer billing disputes in partnership with Commercial and Operations.
- Monitors and resolves sales transaction exceptions, including:
- Incomplete Movement Values (IMV)
- Sales Transactions Not Invoiced
- Account Code Errors, partnering with Operations Accounting as needed
- Performs accuracy reviews and controls for areas of responsibility
- Oversees the cash application process, ensuring timely and accurate application of customer payments.
- Manages the customer master data process, ensuring data integrity, governance, and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Develops, monitors, and reports KPIs and best practices, driving improvements in master data tasks required for deal setup, billing accuracy, dispute resolution, and cash performance.
- Monitors and tests internal controls, ensuring effectiveness and compliance with SOX and Controller’s policies.
- Actively participates in the monthly accounting close, performing reviews, approving significant journal entries and reconciliations.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Six (6) years of Accounting experience required.
- Travel expectations are minimal
- RightAngle, Salesforce or SAP experience preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 6+ years of accounting experience
