The Opportunity
As an Accounting Professional you will get the opportunity to play a pivotal part in the Finance function at Hitachi Energy, supporting financial statement preparation across Southern African countries. Based in Modderfontein, South Africa, the position provides broad regional exposure and the chance to contribute to high‑impact financial outcomes by delivering accurate, timely, and compliant accounting activities. The role operates at the intersection of operational excellence and governance, enabling meaningful collaboration with stakeholders while ensuring adherence to internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
Perform monthly reviews of financial results
Review project results, including backlog execution
Prepare journal entries for specific cost items
Prepare the Monthly Management Accounts (MA) pack
Prepare audit files and support audit requirements
Conduct in-depth analysis of business performance, compile information, and prepare reports to support management decision-making
Perform functional controlling activities, including budgeting, cost control, communication, charging mechanisms, tax compliance, and business partnering with relevant functions
Support monthly and quarterly reporting and closing processes
Prepare cost analyses, estimates, accruals, reclassifications, and ad hoc reports
Monitor performance indicators, identify trends, and analyze causes of variances
Collaborate closely with local and senior leadership

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CA (SA) qualification preferred.
3–5 years of experience in financial controlling or analysis; advanced FP&A operations experience is an advantage
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Solid working knowledge of SAP FI/CO modules
Strong understanding of general accounting and financial reporting processes
Ability to analyze complex financial data effectively
Proven analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to identify problems and implement solutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high sense of ownership and a proactive, results-driven approach
