SUMMARY

This position assists the Division Controller with coordination of the Compound site accountants on all finance/accounting matters as well as be the site accountant for Aberdeen Compounds and the Vinyl Solutions JV.  Major responsibilities will be monthly accounting close activities, monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, divisional financial statement preparation, plant/divisional month end reports and variance analysis and maintaining the monthly forecast model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position operates with a minimum of direct supervision and requires a self-starter who works well individually and in a team environment.
  • Assist Division Controller with coordination of Compound site accountants on all finance / accounting matters
  • Assist Division Controller with coordination of period end financial close for all Compound sites
  • This role has responsibility for the North American Accounting team which includes three manufacturing sites in Mississippi, one manufacturing site in Mexico and the Galata tolling agreement in Bradford, Canada.
  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with divisional financial statement preparation and reporting.
  • Assist with divisional level month end reports including variance analysis with comments to Division Controller. 
  • Assist the Divisional Controller with the monthly forecast.  Maintain monthly forecast models with inputs to BPC.
  • Assist with the implementation of any new IT systems to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements generated by the business.
  • Assist Division Controller in maintaining internal control and SOX compliance.
  • Design and prepare ad hoc reports as requested by Compound managers
  • Support ad hoc business analysis and reporting requests from Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, Business Unit Leaders, and Divisional Management
  • Assist with the development of the annual budget and any financial analysis to support periodic strategy reviews.
  • Assist with coordinate internal and external audit requests for Compound sites.
  • Oversight of all daily routine accounting functions (invoice GL coding, ensuring DOA is being followed for all transactions, commissions payments, product costing, etc.)
  • Other projects and duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Divisional Controller.

  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Short term supervisory responsibility may be assigned from time to time over other analysts to accomplish projects on a timely basis.  This role will serve as a leadership role model to the Compound accountants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with progressive technical and operational business experience preferably in a petrochemical or related field
  •  8 + years of relevant experience in accounting related fields
  • CPA and MBA is preferred
  • ERP experience; strong preference for SAP
  • Strong financial analysis and cost accounting experience is preferred
  • The individual must have a high degree of competency  with spreadsheet programs, including EXCEL

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel up to 10% including air travel or auto travel.
