Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing construction company. This role will oversee daily accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support leadership with financial insights that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and financial management, along with the ability to lead and develop an accounting team.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
Ensure accuracy of job costing and project financial tracking.
Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Construction Accounting
Monitor project budgets, job cost reporting, and profitability analysis.
Work closely with project managers to track project financial performance.
Manage construction-related accounting processes including progress billing, retainage, and contract accounting.
Support compliance with industry-specific requirements.
Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and processes.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
Assist with tax preparation and regulatory filings.
Maintain accurate documentation for audits and financial reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
2+ years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of job costing, construction billing, and WIP reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
CPA or CMA is a plus but not required.
