Preferred Qualifications
- Master degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in public accounting.
- Previous experience in a leadership, supervisory, or mentorshiop role.
Job Summary
Directs complex accounting activities, including month-end close and financial reporting, to ensure accuracy and integrity. Mentors and develops accounting personnel to foster a high-performing team environment. Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and process improvements to support departmental and strategic initiatives.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Leads month-end and year-end closing processes by performing complex reconciliations and insightful variance analysis.
- Oversees the work of senior and staff accountants, providing guidance and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and spearheads departmental process improvements.
- Acts as a primary point of contact for external auditors and manages the preparation of audit deliverables.
- Mentors and develops accounting staff through targeted coaching and ongoing professional guidance.
- Manages high-impact special projects, including system implementations and merger and acquisition accounting.
- Supports the Accounting Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives.

Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
