Position Summary
The Accounting Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations within a fast-paced construction environment. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, job cost accounting, compliance with GAAP, and effective internal controls. The Accounting Lead supervises accounting staff and plays a key role in managing job costing, WIP schedules, subcontractor payments, and revenue recognition for long-term construction contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.
Lead job cost accounting, ensuring accurate cost allocation, budget tracking, and project profitability analysis.
Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
Review and process progress billings, subcontractor pay applications, retainage, and change orders.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and construction industry accounting standards.
Maintain strong internal controls and support external audits and tax preparation.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff while identifying and implementing process improvements.
