The Accounting Coordinator supports the financial operations of the department by performing professional-level accounting functions. The incumbent is responsible for managing, tracking, and reporting the financial activities related to various funding sources including grants, foundation and state accounts. The incumbent ensures compliance with university policies, state regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The incumbent monitors funding requirements and prepares financial reports to support academic units.
55% Prepare, review and reconcile financial transactions in Workday. Responsible for recording and tracking revenue and expenses. Process needed corrections via journal entries and/or payroll accounting adjustments as appropriate. Monitor departmental budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with approval financial plans.
40% Serve as a liaison between the department and University Accounting and Budget offices. Assist in developing financial reports, forecasts and analysis for departmental leadership. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Train or provide guidance to departmental staff on basic financial procedures and systems.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. Two years of experience with accounting or other financial experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Experience with University or public sector accounting, familiarity with Workday, knowledge of grant accounting, fund accounting or restricted funds management.
