JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Accounting and Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the finances and procurement operations of the Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center (BETC) and PracticePoint. This role works closely with the Operations Managers to ensure both facilities operate efficiently, resources are utilized effectively, and potential issues or risks are promptly identified and addressed.
The Accounting and Business Manager also serves as the financial lead for customer billing, invoicing, and usage tracking, as well as budget management, analysis, and forecasting. The role also manages capital equipment and supply purchases, vendor relationships, and business operations, while hosting and coordinating the events in both facilities and conducting client engagement alongside the Operations Managers and lab staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Financial Management:
- Serve as the financial lead for BETC and PracticePoint.
- Process external billings for client and partner activities for both facilities.
- Track membership and grant funds applied toward center utilization.
- Generate and submit purchase orders to vendors; track deliveries and payments.
- Approve purchase expenses from facility operating budgets.
- Collaborate with University Procurement on capital equipment acquisitions.
- Prepare and process required paperwork for equipment purchases through grant funding.
- Develop grant-related financial reports and review/edit submissions prior to submission to funding agencies.
- Conduct budget analysis and forecasting for both expenses and revenues for each facility
Business Operations:
- Support event planning and execution, including managing hospitality services for clients, customers, and vendors.
- Manage card access requests and facility key distribution.
- Coordinate operational meetings, board meetings, and discussions with external stakeholders.
- Act as project manager for facility expansions, renovations, and remodels.
- Supervise student workers and approve timesheets for payment.
- Assist with recruiting new staff and students, including preparing hiring documents and onboarding resources.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business and related majors with a focus in finance or operations.
- Minimal 5 years of experience in financial and operational aspects of a business.
Compensation:
$62,500 - $70,500. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Compensation at WPI
