Accounting Analyst - Revenue Accounting

The Accounting Analyst - Revenue Accounting is responsible for analyzing revenue activity, ensuring proper timing of recognition, preparing, and entering various journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing monthly/quarterly reports for management and external auditors, monitoring revenue controls, and assisting with overflow of other revenue duties as needed. This position will also assist in representing the revenue accounting team on various projects, including researching, determining impacts, documentation, and testing.

Major Activities

Accounting Activities

  • Analyze activity for all revenue streams to ensure accurate recording of revenue and determine proper timing of recognition.
  • Prepare and enter various journal entries, including complex models for revenue deferrals and recognition.
  • Reconcile and analyze various general ledger account balances related to revenue activity.
  • Prepare and analyze various financial schedules for distribution to internal business partners and/or presentation at monthly reviews. 
  • Responsible for monitoring various exception or system reconciliation reports.
  • Provide expertise on projects, including requirements gathering, project meetings, and user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual audit schedules in support of public disclosures.  Work with external auditors to ensure successful audits.
  • Monitor and evaluate internal controls as related to revenue accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with overflow activities for revenue accounting supervisors.

Project Work

  • Responsible for representing the accounting department in cross-functional projects and initiatives. 
  • Responsible for performing accounting impact analysis; identifying, gathering, and documenting accounting requirements; performing testing in systems that either directly or indirectly affect financial statements; and various other related functions.
  • Create and/or maintain documentation of various processes, systems, controls, and issues that directly or indirectly impact financial statements.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree – preferably in Accounting

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Essbase
  • GAAP/Accounting knowledge
  • Analytical skills
  • Very detail oriented

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 1 to 3 years in accounting/finance

Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Oracle Financials is a plus
  • CPA is a plus
