Accounting Analyst

Montreal Full Time

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Analyst to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our day-to-day accounting operations. You will own key processes like accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and month-end close, ensuring accuracy, compliance with IFRS, and operational excellence. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and external bookkeepers to streamline workflows, strengthen internal controls, and support our rapid growth. Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Month-End Close

  • Support and execute the full-cycle month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain supporting schedules for journal entries, including prepaids, accruals, and payroll expense documentation.
  • Review quarterly sales tax filings prepared by external bookkeepers.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized support schedule for all balance sheet reconciliations.

Accounts Payable (AP) & Receivable (AR) Ownership

  • AP: Process vendor invoices, ensure proper coding and approval, and manage payment runs in Float.
  • AP: Own daily vendor communication and follow-ups regarding outstanding items.
  • AR: Issue customer invoices, monitor collections, and support the revenue recognition process in accordance with IFRS 15.
  • AR: Assist in maintaining reconciliation processes with a specific focus on AP and Revenue accounts.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining reconciliation processes to reduce manual work and improve data quality.
  • Help strengthen internal controls and improve workflows as the company's financial complexity increases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Support tax compliance (e.g., sales tax), audit readiness, and interactions with external advisors.
  • Maintain all financial records and documentation to ensure compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Assist with budget-to-actual analysis and forecasting as needed.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports upon management's request.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A CPA designation (or actively pursuing) is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on full-cycle month-end close.
  • Experience in a tech/start-up environment or coming from a Big 4 public accounting firm is a must.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions.
  • Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), specifically exposure to revenue recognition (IFRS 15).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero is required.
  • Experience with Float, and Deel is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (an Excel assessment will be conducted).
