Position Overview
Ready to grow your accounting career in a hands-on manufacturing environment? Shaw Industries is seeking a (INSERT TITLE) to support financial operations at Plant 04 in Dalton, GA. This role is ideal for professionals with an accounting degree and at least two years of experience who want to apply their skills beyond the clean lines of corporate accounting. You’ll work closely with plant leadership to manage inventory, analyze variances, and ensure accurate reporting—all while navigating the dynamic challenges of a production setting.
Unlike traditional accounting roles, this position requires adaptability, problem-solving, and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. You’ll play a key role in driving operational efficiency and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that impact plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze plant-level financial reports, budgets, and variance explanations (POVA).
- Investigate discrepancies between actual and projected results; recommend process improvements.
- Conduct and monitor cycle counts for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and supply rooms.
- Calculate and reconcile raw material usage weekly and monthly; manage inventory across multiple locations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, SOX requirements, and records management standards.
- Collaborate with Industrial Engineering teams on product costing and labor budgets.
- Support month-end close and reporting deadlines as defined by Corporate Manufacturing Accounting.
- Manage and delegate tasks to support staff (M.O. Control Lead and Accounting Clerk).
- Attend meetings and training sessions to foster continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Management, (I recommend taking this one out. "Industrial Engineering,") or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of financial experience with manufacturing or company specific experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex manufacturing environments.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
