  • Drive the accounting and reporting for Target Technology Capital Projects, including review of software and hardware contracts to determine expenditure classification
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, disclosures, and support SOX/internal control compliance
  • Develop strong relationships and provide client support to Technology Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to create, maintain, and monitor capital projects in SAP sub-ledger
  • Contribute to special projects and transformation efforts (automation, system enhancements, data consolidation, etc.)
  • Model a controllership mindset—applying sound judgment, anticipating risk, and proactively shaping outcomes through strong financial and business insight

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • 2 - 3 years of related experience
  • Strong accounting skills, knowledge of GAAP related to lease asset accounting
  • Proficiency with large ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Highly detail-oriented and demonstrates analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively communicate and positively interact with various levels of management and business partners

Desired Requirements:

  • Exposure to ASC 350 Internal-use software and ASC 360 (PP&E) accounting concepts
  • Hands-on experience with interpreting contracts and summarize key financial information
  • Demonstrated ability to develop efficiencies, automate manual work, and lead continuous improvement
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets and analysis
  • Naturally curious and seeks to understand the “why” behind the numbers—explores tools, data, and business context to improve outcomes

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
