We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accountant passionate about fintech and payments to join our Payment Institute, regulated by the Bank of Italy.

As an Accountant at Scalapay, you will own end-to-end accounting operations for our regulated payment institution, working closely with the Finance Director to support monthly closings, reconciliations, and statutory reporting — ensuring accuracy and compliance at every step.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-by-day accounting entries and and review complex journal entries.
  • Manage monthly reconciliations and work with other departments to support monthly closing activities.
  • Analyze invoices and assist with payments and cash flow reporting.
  • Book invoices and expenses and ensure accuracy of the provision of monthly data for management reporting
  • Support preparation of statutory financial statements and contribute to Group consolidated accounts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accounting processes align with operational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in corporate accounting (ideally in financial services or payments).
  • Solid understanding of Italian accounting standards and monthly closing processes.
  • Preparation of financial statements (preferably from banks)
  • Good communication skills in English (and Italian beneficial).
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or similar ERPs a plus.
  • Curiosity, proactivity, and ability to work in a fast-paced fintech environment.
  • Big Four Audit background will be a plus.
