Job Summary:

The Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the hospital's financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. This position requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare finance environment.

What you will do:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and assisting in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate transactions. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records and identify any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and policies, including tax regulations and healthcare financial reporting requirements.
  • Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and cost analysis to provide insights for decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation for financial audits, including coordinating with auditors, providing documentation, and addressing audit findings.
  • Maintain records of hospital assets, including depreciation schedules and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in financial operations and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Required
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Preferred
  • Experience: 3 years Accounting or finance experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
