Overview
The Accountant-Intermediate will be responsible for efficient and accurate completion of monthly and annual financial reports and supporting audit schedules by gathering information needed; utilizing all resources available to resolve differences; and maintaining the general ledger system. The Accountant-Intermediate will be the primary backup across the accounting department and will be cross-trained on all Reliance Rx accounting functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. An additional four (4) years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Three (3) years of experience in accounting required. CPA strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience of general ledger systems, excel, spreadsheets and PC/Windows skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to identify problems and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to accept responsibility, work well on teams, and make decisions.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Accountabilities
- Accounting & Analysis:
- Prepare and/or review journal entries by gathering appropriate documentation and ensuring completion.
- Prepare and/or review supporting monthly/quarterly/annual schedules for audit and management. Perform analytical procedures.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Review accounts payable invoices for accurate general ledger coding, as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance of departmental financial spreadsheets to ensure appropriate level of spreadsheet controls.
- Lend support to accounting management to ensure appropriate data classification and handling procedures are properly maintained in accordance with organizational policies/requirements.
- Assist accounting management with researching of new and updated accounting pronouncements, as needed, summarizing impact on the operations and/or reporting processes.
- Preparation of monthly account reconciliations and bank reconciliations as needed.
- Standard monthly reports and tasks must be completed by scheduled dates.
- Investigate month-end differences and resolve within timeframes as required.
- Provide backup to all areas of the Finance team including AR, AP and Cash Management functions.
- Team Building:
- Coordinate with senior accountants and/or manager to maintain the flow of information within the accounting department and other departments by initiating requests for information or other means.
- Recommend/develop processes that will create efficiency and process improvements.
- Support other departments on strategic initiatives or information requests.
- Participate on departmental teams/task groups as required.
- Training:
- Update/review documentation of procedures for the department procedure manual.
- Communication/Time Management:
- Understand and interpret new concepts and various information with the ability to present ideas in their simplest form and view with a global perspective.
- Produce timely financial information to management to meet predetermined deadlines established by the accounting department, audit and external federal and state agencies by efficiently managing time.

Hiring Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually
Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.
In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
