CLASS TITLE: ACCOUNTANT II
Balance and maintain all financials. This includes all banking procedures including deposits, opening and closing accounts and balancing accounts. Deposit and disbursement reports for monthly distribution to county and state. Abandoned property reports to the state. Criminal account balance write-offs. Maintain and correct any financial costs on criminal and civil accounts. Supervise intake of all financial obligations, document filings, data entry of accounts and assist with customer service,
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Provides professional accounting support in the maintenance and review of financial records.
Specific tasks include:
Deposits
Distribution of civil & criminal funds
Maintain & Balance 5 office accounts
Maintain & Balance 200 trust accounts
Prepare reports for county & state
Write off balances of criminal accounts
Abandoned property reports
Available for customer service in all areas
Provide figures for annual budget
Supervise & assist fellow employees
Supervise intake of court document
DATA INVOLVEMENT:
Requires gathering, organizing, analyzing, examining or evaluating data or information and may prescribe action based on such data or information.
PEOPLE INVOLVEMENT:
Requires giving information, guidance or assistance to people to directly facilitate task accomplishment; may give directions or assignments to helpers or assistants.
INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS:
Requires handling or using machines requiring moderate instruction and experience such as computers, and software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets or custom applications.
REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
Requires performing skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem-solving.
MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires using algebra working with such factors as exponents, logarithms, linear and quadratic equations; concepts of analytic geometry, differentiation and integration of algebraic functions; statistics, applying such functions as frequency distribution, reliability, validity and correlation techniques; finance and economics using financial and econometric models.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires reading technical instructions, procedures, manuals and charts to solve practical problems; composing routine reports and specialized reports, forms and business letters with proper format and grammar; speaking compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires doing professional-level work requiring the application of principles and practices in a wide range of administrative, technical or managerial methods in the solution of administrative or technical problems; or the coordination of entry-level managerial work; requires general understanding of operating policies and procedures and the ability to apply these to complex administrative problems; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results or frequent exposure to unusual pressures.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:
Requires Associate’s degree.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires over five years.
PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
The job risks exposure to no known environmental hazards.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
JUDGMENTS AND DECISIONS:
Responsible for guiding others, requiring frequent decisions affecting co-workers and others who depend on the service or product; works in a somewhat fluid environment with rules and procedures but with many variations from the routine.
