JOB SUMMARY
ONEOK is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant II to join our Refined Products Commodity Accounting team. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where collaboration and innovation are valued. In this role you will manage all aspects of refined products accounting from initial contract review, tracking product movement across assets, validating and processing 3rd party invoices, to review of the financial statements. This position involves close collaboration with trading, scheduling and treasury departments and demands attention to detail, strong internal and external customer service skills, as well as effective communication.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct analyses and prepare detailed reports and recommendations concerning finance, billing, accounting, capital expenditures, and taxation methodologies and procedures
- Perform various accounting duties including but not limited to:
- Volumetric tracking and reconciliation
- Margin analysis
- Cost of goods calculations
- Intercompany activity
- Various billings and related adjustments
- Cash forecast
- Appropriate Journal Entries
- Other duties assigned
- Assist in development and maintenance of applicable programs used in finance, gross reporting, invoicing, billing, and various accounting activities
- Work with employees from governmental and/or regulatory agencies, auditing firms, management, and others in areas that may include accounting procedures, various financial reports, budgets and forecasts, billing adjustments, and tax preparation and reporting. Compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and applicable Regulatory Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance with specific job-related experience
Work Experience
- Experience with and/or thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company financial accounting, and AR/AP functions
- Experience and/or training related to:
- Financial accounting and reporting standards and processes
- Economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions
- Interpreting and explaining accounting standards and/or policies
- Communication/interpersonal skills
- Customer billing and related processes and systems
- Experience analyzing, evaluating, and preparing analyses and recommendations concerning impact of accounting processes related to standards, regulations and/or other sources
- Experience researching, preparing, and analyzing reports and other correspondence applicable to position
- Promotes effective cross-functional communication and collaboration within the team and across various departments
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications
- Demonstrates strong analytical abilities that contribute to effective problem-solving and the identification of discrepancies within job responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of: RightAngle, Hyperion, Oracle, Advanced Excel all a plus
- Ability to: interact, advise, direct, and communicate effectively
- Ability to: communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information or instructions; conduct oral presentations
