Accountant

Huntsman is seeking an Accountant supporting the Finance Division located in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor.

Job Scope

This role supports the Shared Services Inventory & Costing group by performing monthly cost calculations, inventory reconciliations, journal entry postings, PUP analysis, audit support, and continuous improvement activities. It ensures accurate cost accounting, adherence to US GAAP, and reliable financial reporting.

In summary, as Accountant, you will:

  • Execute monthly PUP runs and analyze associated journal entries.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries such as accruals, obsolescence calculations, inventory adjustments, and gains/losses.

  • Perform inventory reconciliations, material costing, and associated gain/loss postings.

  • Conduct inventory audits and reviews of obsolete inventory.

  • Develop, automate, and maintain reports and processes for continuous improvement.

  • Provide analytical support to the business group.

  • Assist with special projects and improvements as required.

  • Prepare audit schedules and support quarterly and annual audit requirements.

  • Perform financial data uploads into SAP for foreign subsidiaries.

  • Support SOX compliance through proper internal controls.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Candidates must be willing to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our office located in AFZ, Heredia. Additional office days may be required as needed or during corporate visits.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience required:

  • 2–10+ years of accounting experience.

Skills and knowledge

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Intermediate Excel proficiency (testing required).

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles.

  • Ability to perform trend analysis, reconciliation, and problem solving.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and accountability in completing monthly tasks.

  • Strong attention to detail and capacity to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP experience.

  • Business Intelligence (BI) tools experience.

  • Prior experience in cost accounting roles within manufacturing or shared services.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.

  • No shift work or call-in requirements.

  • Must be able to work during monthly close cycles and peak periods.
