Job Summary

The Accountant- Acquisitions & Integration will lead the accounting for business acquisitions, including the valuation of intangible assets, contingent consideration, and the opening balance sheet entries. The position partners closely with Corporate Development and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment and timely month-end and quarter-end close activities related to acquisitions.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform purchase price allocations (PPA) for new acquisitions.  This includes attention to detail and technical knowledge of specialized accounting standards. Identify and value intangible assets, and documentation of defensible assumptions
  • Record and monitor detailed Work-in-Progress (WIP) entries related to acquisition and integration activities
  • Monitor, track, and record accounting entries related to holdbacks and earnouts, including ongoing assessment and analysis of liabilities and adjustments as needed
  • Coordinate with Corporate Development and Business Development teams regarding acquisition pipeline, deal timelines, and financial data requirements
  • Partner with Corporate Development to build the initial operating budgets for new locations. Validate financial projections, refine assumptions based on accounting realities, and ensure "pro-forma" models translate into achievable post-close budgets.
  • Prepare month-end and quarter-end schedules and reconciliations related to acquisitions, ensuring completeness and accuracy, including maintaining control narratives, and adequate controls over the process.
  • Support the annual audit process by providing expert documentation for complex areas that auditors scrutinize most.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required for the Job

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with exposure to acquisitions, purchase accounting, or financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of both U.S. GAAP and IFRS, with particular expertise in business combination accounting under ASC 805 and IFRS 3

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Solid understanding of purchase price accounting and financial statement impacts of acquisitions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Workday
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain thorough documentation

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • CPA designation or progress toward certification
  • Experience in a multi-entity or high-growth acquisition environment
  • Prior experience working with Corporate Development or M&A teams
  • Familiarity with internal controls and SOX/ICOFR requirements

Other Requirements Travel, physical requirements, etc.

  • Minimal travel may be required on an as-needed basis to support acquisition-related activities . This will require proper international travel documents to go between the US and Canada.93

Compensation Details:

Expected Pay Range: 

58K-62K Year

Compensation is commensurate with skill, education and experience.
