At a Glance: 

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing long-term, trusting relationships with customers, connecting with business leaders and stakeholders. This position is also responsible for answering customer inquiries and identifying new business opportunities among existing customers. The ideal candidate will be located in Houston, TX.

What you will do:

  • Answers customer inquiries and identifies new business opportunities among existing customers.
  • Develops new sales opportunities by researching and identifying current accounts.
  • Maintains accounts by answering telephone/e-mail inquiries / other; verifying and entering information into the CRM system for the organization to ensure information is disseminated to all organizational resources who need that information.
  • Promotes and supports H&P’s Customer Value Proposal throughout the organization
  • Monitors Accounts Receivable, assists with dispute resolution and approves concessions up to predefined limits. Maintains and improves quality results by following standards; recommending improved policies and procedures with other members of the organization to ensure the highest quality of service is provided to the customer for the best price while ensuring the organization is profitable.
  • Manages communications internally and externally. Maintain professional image of the company with customer and internal partners.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions; participating in educational opportunities.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in oil and gas industry preferred.
  • 10+ years’ sales experience preferred.
  • Experience with areas in focus of H&P’s technology offerings preferred.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Excellent understanding of the Sales process.  Able to effectively prospect, manage pipeline, uncover customer needs/concerns, communicate benefits, demonstrate fit and negotiate the close.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Effectively explores alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain support and acceptance for win win outcomes.
  • Strategic agility. Seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
  • Strong business, financial and analytical skills.  Ability to grasp the financial complexities of the business.
  • Strong knowledge of computers, teleconference and video conference technologies as they relate to the sales process.
  • Organized and detail oriented. Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all involved, no matter how small.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate highly technical solutions in business-friendly terms.
  • Proactive. Able to rapidly, concisely, and aggressively manage up to ensure critical issues are escalated to management, resolved, and acted upon before there is an impact on the organization.
  • Able to hit critical deadlines without exception.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong individual initiative and ability to deliver results.
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 20%)
