Account Handler

Manchester - Howden House Full time

Who are we?

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.

People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

The Role

This role sits within our Howden Music Retail team, supporting clients across the music industry, including those involved in touring and live events.

You’ll play a key role in processing renewals, handling administrative tasks and supporting clients across a range of insurance products such as travel, liability, event cancellation and equipment/property cover.

This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a specialist area of insurance, and you’ll also have the chance to attend events, giving you a real insight into the industry and clients you’ll be working with. The role is based in our Manchester office and requires attendance in the office 5 days per week.

What you'll do

  • Supporting the team with processing renewals and day-to-day client administration

  • Maintaining accurate records and updating systems, including Acturis and Howden’s internal platforms

  • Working with colleagues to ensure client information is accurate and up to date

  • Liaising with clients and responding to queries where appropriate

  • Preparing and organising documentation to support the quoting and renewal process

  • Supporting credit control and chasing outstanding information when needed

  • Conducting basic due diligence checks in line with company processes

  • Getting involved in wider team activities and supporting on projects where needed

Requirements:

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn — this is the most important thing

  • Previous insurance or account handling experience is a bonus, but not essential

  • Good communication skills and confidence speaking with others

  • Someone who enjoys working as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills

  • Comfortable using systems (experience with Acturis is helpful but not required)

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond
