Who are we?

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.

People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

The Role

An Account Executive in Howden’s International Trade Credit team is expected to take a leading role in the day-to-day servicing of multinational and financial institution clients, maintaining regular communication with stakeholders across multiple territories. They support programme performance by providing tailored solutions, leveraging existing insurer relationships, and developing new ones to deliver best-in-class service. The role requires proactive planning, effective prioritisation of workload, and active contribution to team objectives, including forecasting, market feedback collection, and identifying opportunities to grow the book of business.

What you'll do

  • The position demands strong technical capability, including reviewing client documentation, preparing market presentations, marketing risks appropriately, and liaising with clients to resolve queries.

  • Account Executives must ensure regulatory, tax, and territorial requirements are met, maintain high-quality documentation, and manage data, credit control, and subjectivities accurately.

  • Expected to build collaborative working relationships with underwriters, support client renewals and mid-term adjustments, maintain transparent communication, and uphold compliance with internal policies, procedures, and governance standards.

Who we're looking for

  • Sound knowledge of insurance principles, regulatory environments, product-line expertise, and awareness of market dynamics.

  • Strong communication, numeracy, decision-making, negotiation, and the ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Customer-focused, adaptable to change, and capable of coaching junior colleagues.

  • Qualifications typically include GCSEs in Maths and English, with A-levels and industry certifications such as LLMIT or ACII considered advantageous.

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond
