Are you a driven and results-oriented professional with a passion for building strong client relationships in the chemical industry? We are seeking a dynamic Account Executive to join our bulk industrial gas business team in Ontario.

The Account Executive will be responsible for selling bulk industrial gas products (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium and hydrogen) to a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing-related customers and markets segments including Foods, Metals Fabrication/ Metals Processing, Chemical, Primary Metals, Electronics and other general industrial customers. The territory covers Southwestern Ontario from Hamilton to Sarnia/Windsor. This is a residence-based role.

The successful candidate will possess a strong business acumen and technical background as well as a passion for impacting the bottom line. The position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with strong analytical skills who is capable of independent learning. Associated with the position is the potential for growth within the role and beyond, commensurate with the candidate’s skills and development.

Required Skills / Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while meeting established sales quotas.
  • Lead activity in certain new segments in the Southwestern Ontario region.
  • Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Strong selling/closing and contract negotiation skills involving key decision makers.
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills.
  • Product-line and industrial manufacturing knowledge.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Ability to travel to, attend, and conduct presentations or training.
  • Resourceful, self-sufficient and with the ability to work with or without supervision.
  • Computer knowledge - MS Office, Windows and CRM software.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing customer accounts - manage customer relationships, customer value creation, wallet share growth, profit management.
  • New business development - selling suite of industrial gas products, equipment and services to amenable market, including new to market and competitive account prospects.
  • Territory coverage - mostly local covering Southwestern Ontario, but some overnight travel may be required.
  • Strong emphasis on prospecting including high rate of call activity and prompt Direct Marketing follow-up.
  • Establish a network of referrals to develop opportunity pipeline growth.
  • Utilize contracts and relationships to maximize margin expansion opportunity within customer portfolio. Understanding contractual language is essential.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospects and customers.
  • Utilize P&L and maintain CRM tools.
  • Follow industry trends related to products and services within territory activities.
  • Support Air Products’ marketing efforts, such as seminars and trade show demonstrations.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering preferred.
  • 7-10 years of related experience in business or technical sales roles required.
  • Knowledge of chemical, petrochemical, refining & upgrading operations preferred.
  • Language: English – Bilingual Preferred (French and English).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills, and being comfortable making sales calls.
  • Solid experience in opportunity qualifications, pre-visit planning, account development and time and territory management.

Travel:

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory of Southwestern Ontario, as well as occasional travel outside of Ontario.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license & passport with the ability to travel within Canada & to the US.

“The expected compensation for this job varies based on locations in Canada. In Ontario, the expected pay range is $110,000 - $180,000 inclusive of a potential performance linked target bonus. This is the compensation we reasonably expect to pay for this position as individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.”
