Account Director, Financial Sales

Business Insider is hiring an Account Director to join our Financial Services sales team, with a primary focus on new business development, revenue growth, and strategic client expansion.

The Role & Team:

This is a business development–driven sales role for an experienced digital media seller who thrives on opening doors, building senior-level relationships, and closing complex, custom partnerships.

You’ll own a national book of business across the financial sector—including banks, asset managers, fintech, payments, insurance, and crypto—with responsibility for both new client acquisition and growth of select existing accounts. You will lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, pitching, solution design, negotiation, and close.

This role reports to the VP of Finance Vertical Sales and requires willingness to travel. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Drive new business development by identifying, pitching, and closing strategic Financial Services advertisers
  • Own senior-level relationships with key clients and agencies; position Business Insider as a core brand partner
  • Develop and sell custom, integrated advertising solutions across Branded Content, Display, Video, Programmatic, Podcasts, Data, and Live/Virtual Events
  • Create and execute strategic account plans to hit or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Act as an external and internal evangelist for Business Insider’s value proposition in a crowded media landscape
    Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Client Services, Media Planning, and Studio teams to deliver high-impact campaigns
  • Educate and inspire clients through a brand-led sales approach, moving beyond transactional media buys
  • Represent Business Insider at industry events and client meetings as a brand ambassador
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline management in Salesforce

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Proven track record of closing new business and growing revenue within Financial Services advertising
  • Strong network across financial brands and media agencies
  • Deep understanding of digital media sales, including custom content, audience-based programs, and programmatic
  • Ability to translate client business goals into compelling, data-driven marketing solutions
  • Strategic, consultative selling mindset with strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Passion for storytelling, media, technology, and the art of the sale
  • Comfort navigating named accounts, uncovering marketing strategies, and closing complex deals

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $130,000-$150,000
