About the role:

The person in this position has a critical role and is responsible for the growth, profitability and long-term success of Fairstone’s credit card partnership with one of Canada’s largest retailers. This role has accountability for the credit card portfolio, acting as the strategic owner of the partnership and the primary interface between Fairstone and the merchant. The Account Director ensures alignment between portfolio performance, partner satisfaction, regulatory requirements, and Fairstone’s broader strategic objectives while driving sustainable growth and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Fairstone’s strategic partnership with the merchant, acting as the primary point of contact for all communications, initiatives, and governance.
  • Drive growth and profitability of the credit card portfolio, with accountability for portfolio performance, financial results, and long-term value creation.
  • Ensure strong alignment, transparency, and trust between Fairstone and the merchant but also within all internal teams.
  • Proactively identify growth opportunities, optimization levers, and risk mitigation strategies to maximize portfolio performance.
  • Oversee performance metrics; define and execute action plans to address performance gaps and market challenges.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex partner, customer, or operational issues, ensuring timely and balanced resolution aligned with Fairstone’s values and the partner’s expectations.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies impacting credit cards.
  • Consistently represent Fairstone’s brand, values, and strategic priorities to the highest professional standards internally and externally.

What we’re looking for:

  • University Degree - preferably in Business Administration or equitable work experience
  • 10 years experience in senior sales and/or partnership management
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken). French is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex merchant relationships, ideally within the credit card or financial services industry
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions
  • Strong financial acumen, including business cases, forecasts, budgets, and performance reporting
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with various stakeholders in Legal, Risk, Finance, Product, and Operations
  • Proficient in MS Office products to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and an overall digital environment
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure
  • Willingness to travel as required and possession of a valid driver's license

What you can expect - pay & process:

  • Expected base salary range is $100 000.00 - $140 000.00 per year, plus the opportunity to earn an annual incentive bonus tied to performance.
