Position: Account Activation Intern, KEEN Utility
Location: KEEN’s Global Headquarters in Portland, Oregon (on-site)
Duration: 10 weeks
Compensation: $22/hour
Program Duration: Monday, June 15th – Friday, August 21st
What You'll Do
As an Intern at KEEN (KEENtern), you’ll dive into the exciting world of footwear, innovation, and community! You’ll get hands-on experience working alongside industry experts and contribute to shaping the future of KEEN.
As the Utility Account Activation Intern (Utility focused), you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Utility business and account base w/in the strategic pillar, executing activations instore with store staff through training, brand activations, and brand engagement. You will work hands on across strategic sales and marketing pillars in the go to market process, maximizing sell through, reporting, and ensuring the brand comes to life in an impactful way. This position offers hands-on experience in the execution of sales and marketing priorities, collaborating internally and externally with key business partners. You will work cross functionally across internal teams including sales, marketing, product, community engagement with account partners.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support & manage account training and activation tools, ie: training tech video’s PPT presentations and toolkits for sales staff in partnership with the marketing teams
- Weekly sell through data analysis (learn and impact improvement), help drive sell through wins in omni channel
- Strategic key account support, training, activation partnership, working closely with marketing and sales leaders for strong collaboration
- In store and virtual brand and utility product training to store staff, activate the brand in-real-life, support the brand story telling to account base and trade shows
- Seasonal sales tool upkeep and organization
- Product seeding and sample organization and support
- Assist in retail education tool creation and roll out
- Account interaction preparation
- Market insights and competitive analysis, ability research and report to management
- Assist in category business development, making account visits and connections
- Assist in preparation for Utility community facing events and milestones
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
- Relevant coursework or experience in sales, marketing is a plus
- Must be enrolled an accredited college or university at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level
- Must be able to dedicate 40 hours/week toward the internship during normal M-F PST working hours
- Majority of time will be in KEEN office, some hybrid work, limited local field work
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively and on tight deadlines
- Able to sit and/or stand at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time
- Excel data analytics skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Experience creating quality PowerPoint presentations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word

Program Requirements:
To qualify for this internship, you must:
- Be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student working toward a degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Commit to a 10-week program from mid-June through mid-August
- Dedicate 40 hours per week during standard M-F, PST working hours
- All roles are located in Portland, OR. Must be able to move to Portland during the duration of the internship if you are not already living here.
- Plan no more than four total days of vacation during the internship
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software and tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail in preparation of presentations, reports, and materials.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
- Comfortable sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods of time.
Travel Requirement: Occasional travel in and around the larger Portland area to support activations.
