Academic Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon, Worcester, MA
UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks an Academic Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon to join our established team. We welcome and support physician caregivers from all Academic Ranks to apply and join us in our relentless pursuit of healing.
About our Division:
UMass Memorial is a growing Level 1 Trauma Center (Adult and Pediatric) with approximately 130,000 emergency visits, 5,300 trauma activations and 2,500 Surgical ICU admissions per year into the 3 surgical ICUs comprising a total of 40 beds. In addition to an Acute Care Surgery practice and Trauma day/night coverage, the group manages, as Surgical Intensivists, the transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, neurological surgery patients and other high acuity sub-specialty patients in the two SICUs located on the University's main campus. We have a large cohort of mid-level providers (NP’s, PA’s) who provide support. Department resources are available for trauma-critical care research. The hospital administration is highly supportive of the Trauma Center. Academic appointment commensurate with experience and training. Given our increasing trauma volume, we will be expanding from a Division of 7 to 8 surgeons.
Qualifications:
BC/BE Fellowship Trained (In General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care)
Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
A strong commitment to patient-centered clinical care
Interest in academic medicine, including teaching medical students, residents, fellows, APPs. Interest in clinical, quality, simulation, and injury prevention research
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment
